On August 23rd, 2018, instagram user @jameswilliampenland posted a video of a man holding a growling dog named Mr. Bubz. At the end of the video, an person off screen says to the dog, “Yeah, I got you. I got this on camera.” The post (shown below) received more than 8,000 likes and 56,000 views in five days. This clip was extremely popular amongst the Medium Design team.

Noah Baker described Mr. Bubz’s auditory reaction as an “Odd Goblin Noise,” and the term stuck.
